History of NMOA

HISTORY OF NMOA

The Navi Mumbai Orthopaedic Association (NMOA) was founded in the year 2011 under the visionary leadership of Dr. S. H. Thorat, the founding President. His foresight and dedication laid the foundation for what would become a strong and vibrant community of orthopaedic professionals in the Navi Mumbai and Raigad region.

Dr. Thorat envisioned an organization that would unite all orthopaedic surgeons from Navi Mumbai, Panvel, Raigad, and Uran under one platform — fostering a spirit of togetherness, academic excellence, and professional collaboration. His mission was to create an avenue where members could share knowledge, support one another, and collectively work toward enhancing patient care and surgical expertise.

From its inception, NMOA focused on building academic connections and encouraging unity among orthopaedic surgeons. The association began conducting meetings, case discussions, and academic sessions to promote learning and exchange of ideas. Under Dr. Thorat’s guidance, the association quickly earned respect as a professional body dedicated to both science and service.

His leadership emphasized not only scientific progress but also the importance of fellowship and camaraderie among members — values that continue to define NMOA today. The foundation laid by Dr. S. H. Thorat has guided every successive committee and continues to inspire the association’s growth and achievements.

The Navi Mumbai Orthopaedic Association, born from his vision in 2011, stands today as a proud symbol of unity, knowledge, and progress among orthopaedic professionals — carrying forward the ideals and legacy of its founding president, Dr. S. H. Thorat.
